It took about 1.5 hours to drive to the starting point of the hike, about 2 hours to... read more hike up hill to the top of the volcano and the overlook into the lake in the middle, and then 1.5 hours to hike back down. On the drive there, we stopped for snacks/breakfast, and on the way back, we stopped at a restaurant for lunch with a great overlook of Lake Coatepeque (just to view the lake, not to swim). There were lots of food options on the menu to choose from. The hike was really cool, with awesome views along the way and it was not too strenuous since we took breaks along the way. Diego, our guide, was also amazing in answering questions, sharing history, taking photos, and making the trip such a great experience!
